Satoshi stumbled passed the river going south, snow blinding him as it came down in sheets of ice cold knives as he trudged through three feet of what had fallen already. He didn't know what made him come out of the cozy warm house, but it sure was strong, because he was freezing his tail off right now. His breath came out in white clouds thick enough to cut with a plastic spoon and his boots were almost filled, but his sixthth sense was driving him onward. Looking up through his snow glasses, he spotted a lake nearby, frozen over completely and glistening with the wet snow landing all over it. He jerked his head around to try getting a location on where he was headed with no use, and he clenched his fists at his sides, looking franticlly for whatever. What in the world is in so much trouble, for heaven's sake?! Now I think I'm lost! Shivering like there was no warmth left in the world, he plodded over to a pine tree and leaned against a tall mound of snow. He regretted doing so immedietly and pulled back shivering worse then ever. Scowling, he happened to glance backwards and see a dent in the snow. It was too big for any animal other then a deer, and they didn't fall out of trees, so he kicked away some of the side snow and began digging. Of course it had been covered in a thin layer of newly fallen snow on top of whatever was in here, but Satoshi was certain this thing had fallen just recently, so he was in a very big hurry to get it out. He didn't like the fact that something might be dying under here and he wasn't saving it as soon as possible. Hefting the last inch or two of ice away, something stuck up from the snow and Satoshi blinked at it. The thing looked like the point of a very pointed ear, but nothing in the world had ears like that. He cleared some more snow away and saw it was a blonde girl with pointed ears lying under this frozen mass, lying unconcious beneath the tree. Satoshi gasped and shoveled faster than ever. He soon had most of her out and grabbed under her arms, dragging the girl from her icy tomb. Holding her close to his chest, he ran back to the cabin as fast as his frozen legs would carry him, thanking God he was given this sixth sense.

Rika felt as if all the cold she's ever experienced had melted away as she lay swaddled in blankets and sleeping peacfully in Daisuke's cottage home. She was just dozing, forgetting she was in a different world, assuming she was in her own bed with father right down the hall and the kingdom arising early, as usual. But when she remembered where she was, her eyes flew open and she sat bolt upright, crying out, "Purgatory?!" There were two boys nearby. One was asleep and unnerved by her outburst, asleep on the floor, hair a different, poorer, shade of hay gold sprawled over his feather pillow. He lay on the hardwood floor, which made Rika stop, but it was only one of the reasons. The other was that there was an extremely handsome human staring at her from the foot of the bed. He had striking red eyes as crimson as warm blood, and a peculiar expression on his face like half-amusement and half-suprise.
Rika blushed and jerked her chin up, "Who're you?" She demanded, crossing her arms to look more menacing. This seemed to amuse him more and he chuckled, taking a stick out of his pocket and a small metal device, "You know, you've got some kinda spark to survive an hour burried in six feet of snow," he said, his deep, mesmerizing gaze locked on her as he slid the stick between his pale lips and popped the top of the thing, causing fire to spring up. Rika jumped and he lowered it before lighting his little white stick, "W... What is that thing?" She asked nervously, certainly unsettled by this boy's lightning eyes. He lifted the device again, "A lighter. It makes fire, so stupid people like me can smoke a cigarette." Instead of lighting the white stick, he put it away and fiddled with the lighter some more. Rika was taken aback. He had called himself stupid, but why? "Why do you call yourself stupid?" She asked in confusion. This boy was not normal on her level at all.

Satoshi blinked, "Because I'm polluting my lungs with whats in that little white stick by smoking it. Don't you know anything?" The blonde girl's blush didn't bother him, because most people were uncomfortable around an albino person, but her blush was different. It wasn't scared or disgusted. It was shy. She looked down into her lap, "I guess I don't know much yet, sir," she said softly. "but it's not good to be so hard on yourself." Satoshi tilted his head to the side a bit, which caught her attention, and even as she looked up at him she became paralyzed by his gaze again, "But if it's true," he said, smiling a bit. "then it's all right."
The girl was very pretty. She had turquoise eyes and blonde hair that made her cute little face even cuter as it fell around her rosy cheeks, and all together she was very beautiful to look at, figure wise. When she searched for something to say, he thought it was very amusing the way she stared at him. "I'm Rika. Rika Evergreen," she flustered. "who're you, sir?"
Satoshi's eyes flickered, "I'm Satoshi Hikari. Quit it with the sir thing. It's stupid. There on the floor is the owner of this cottage, Daisuke. You can call me Satoshi." He saw her flounder for words again and when she finally was overlaoded with embarassment for loss of words he took pity on her and reached over, taking her hands, "Say it with me," he said in his low, calm voice. "Sa-to-shi." Rika's heart leaped in her chest and she swallowed, "S... Satoshi."
Satoshi looked satisfied as he released her hands and stood up, walking over to the couch on her other side and flopping down onto it. "Sleep," he said simply, draping his elbows over the back of the couch. "I'll watch you in case anything happens." Rika gripped the blanket and brought it up to her nose, "Like what?" She asked, honestly too nervous to sleep. "In case you get sick, or someone knocks on the door, or if I just feel like watching you sleep." He answered smoothly, not even cracking on the last part. Rika's blush deepened as she lye back down, curling her legs up under her, still staring up at Satoshi. His eyes were softer now, gentle, even, as they lulled her to sleep once more. She closed her own eyes then, and drifted off, his perfect face now in her dreams. Satoshi watched her breathing quietly for awhile before sinking down into the couch and unzipping his jacket, glancing at her one last time before he was asleep as well.

Rika woke the next morning early, as usual, and peeked out from behind the edge of the blanket up at Satoshi. He was in the same position as last night accept his head was lolled to the side and his face was smoothed of worries. There was no smirk; no knowing smile. Just calm. His hair was askew around his sharp pale face as he slouched on the couch, jacket open. Rika smiled and sat up, stretching a bit and shaking out her hair. This turned out to be a strange trip to the human world. Two boys and a warm bed; nothing like the malicious woundings, terror, and hatred she'd imagined. Getting up, she made the bed quietly and hesitated at the door. Smiling again she went back to the white haired boy who she assumed was albino and kissed his cheek before ducking outside. No hurt in a bit of thanking.

Satoshi was woken by soft lips touching his cheek and he felt a warmth spread through his chest as he opened his eyes and blinked as Rika disappeared out the door. Remarkable, he thought. She looks perfectly fine. He tried to get up and go after her, but he seemed heavy suddenly, as in his body wouldn't move. The kiss had made him groggy and soon he drifted off to sleep again, breathing slowing and silent now.
